Creamy, garlicky spaghetti tossed with Parmesan, butter, and herbs for an easy, comforting dinner.

  • 12 oz (340 g) spaghetti

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil

  • 6 cloves garlic, thinly sliced

  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/2 cup (50 g) grated Parmesan cheese

  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest (optional)

Instructions

  • Cook spaghetti in salted boiling water; reserve 1/2 cup pasta water.

  • Melt butter with olive oil in a skillet; sauté garlic and red pepper flakes until golden.

  • Add pasta to skillet, tossing to coat.

  • Add reserved pasta water as needed for a silky sauce.

  • Stir in Parmesan, salt, pepper, parsley, and lemon zest.

  • Serve garnished with extra Parmesan and parsley.

Notes

Cook garlic gently to avoid bitterness. Adjust seasoning and pasta water for desired sauce consistency.
